Land Rover was an originally British automobile manufacturing company, which has offered its various models- Land Rover Defender, Discovery, Range Rover as well as Freelander. Land Rover is considered as the subsidiary of Tata Motors since 2008. However, this auto maker was taken over by BMW and Ford motors in the past.
Range Rover is a 4-wheel drive SUV from Land Rover. This model is now owned by the India based Tata Motors. Range Rover was offered as a mid sized SUV up to 2002 starting from 1970. But, this model is offered as full size sports utility vehicle.
The Land Rover Discovery is a mid sized sports utility vehicle by Land Rover. The assembly plant of Land Rover Discovery is situated at Solihul in England. The same Land Rover front engine as well as four wheel drive layout is used in the Discovery model SUVs.
The production of another model namely Land Rover Defender was commenced in the year 1983. It was an off road utility vehicle. Defender models are widely used as a versatile vehicle in military, industry as well as in agriculture.
The Land Rover had offered the Freelander model for the first time in 1996. It is a compact crossover SUV class vehicle.
